One of the revelations from this start of the new season at LaLiga Santander are Club Atlético Osasuna. The team coached by Jagoba Arrasate has already earned 12 points out of 18 and have only lost a single game at their home ‘El Sadar’ against Getafe so far. But, are their great beginning into the new campaign really surprising?

Factually, no, it is not. Arrasate’s squad have always managed to overcome expectations both from the neutral fans and from their own since their return to the Spanish First Division back in 2019. During these last three seasons, Club Atlético Osasuna have never finished under the 11th spot on the table, as they have also earned two meritorious 10th positions.
And of course, there is not need to say that they have never been close to relegation throughout all this time, not even on verge of approaching the most delicate spots of the table. That certainly has much merit.
Osasuna have proved to be one of the most well-worked and compacted teams in the league without having a huge budget. In fact, they have become a headache for all their rivals, specially when visiting their stadium.

In addition, their home field ‘El Sadar’ was chosen last season as the best stadium in the world, among other facts due to their incredible crowd and the difficulty that any visiting team faces off when trying to get some points. This season, neither Sevilla, Cádiz nor Rayo Vallecano have managed to snatch a single point from that stadium. Getafe are the only team at the moment that have found the way to pick up the victory at their home.
Definitely, this outstanding start into the new season by Osasuna is not a coincidence and one of the main responsible for this is one of the most underrated coaches from European football, Jagoba Arrasate.
The season has just begun, but, Are Club Atlético Osasuna ready to battle for something else than finishing midtable?
