FC Barcelona put Real Madrid to the sword:
FC Barcelona made their superiority clear against a Real Madrid side who were only comfortable for the first 15 minutes of the game and again felt totally outclassed. kylian Mbappé showed his effectiveness and already took his place as LaLiga’s top scorer, but his team did not go with him. Ancelotti’s men fell back with the lead and once again the white defence left a lot to be desired.
The ‘Blaugranas’ did not give up and turned the game around before the break, massacring Real Madrid and exposing the defensive shortcomings. Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres destroyed the ‘Merengues’ and the Brazilian was named MVP of the match with his brace. With this victory, FC Barcelona could win LaLiga against their eternal rivals RCD Espanyol and as for the visitors, everything points to Carlo Ancelotti’s departure sooner rather than later.
RC Celta aim for Europe:
RC Celta continue to be one of the most attractive programs in LaLiga and this matchday proved it again. Claudio Giráldez’s side hosted a Sevilla FC side in need of points because they were starting to flirt with the bottom of the table and they did their best in an adverse situation. The game was 1-1 at half-time after a penalty for a handball by Marcos Alonso, which was shown a red card, an aspect that seemed to be a drama for the Vigo side.
In the second half, the introduction of Fran Beltrán revitalised the home side and they were able to get the better of a wounded Sevilla side that Joaquín Caparrós is failing to raise their competitive ceiling. To this was added the fact that Óscar Mingueza came on again at the key moment and Borja Iglesias scored his tenth league goal of the season. Celta are still dreaming, but Sevilla are not going to have an easy end to the season to swallow.
Sorloth destroys Real Sociedad:
Atlético de Madrid have been feeling like they have nothing to play for for a couple of games now, but Aleksander Sorloth set out to give us one of the most remarkable individual displays of the season with a hat-trick of goals in half an hour, a historic start. His side ran out comfortable 4-0 winners thanks to his four goals.
Real Sociedad continue to show signs of a painful and evident end of cycle. Everything suggests that they will not be able to play in European competitions next season, with the departure of Martín Zubimendi and Imanol Alguacil expected. We will see in the next editions of LaLiga Overtime who will play in Europe next season.
