Stephen Curry and company will try to take the Golden State Warriors back to the peak of the NBA after a season marked by injuries. We analyze the latest news on the franchise from San Francisco.

Klay Thompson is almost back:

The shooting guard tore his Achilles tendon last season, which kept him away from playing for the entire campaign. Injuries have been a big obstacle for this player, as he was also out for the previous year. However, he will not take part in the first few games, as the Warriors do not want to rush at first. This way, he is expected to be back on track by Christmas.

The Golden State Warriors will definitely be a team to take into account when Thompson returns. Of course we will have to see how his shape is after a couple years without playing time, but the ‘Splash Brothers’ are lethal from the 3-point line. Not seeing them back in the Playoffs will be a surprise.

The potential of James Wiseman:

He has been another player that the Warriors have missed this last season. 2nd pick in the 2020 Draft, James Wiseman joined the Warriors to be a key player on the center position. However, he has been too irregular due to injuries and inexperience for his youth. Even so he has averaged 11,5 points, 5,8 rebounds and a 51,9% accuracy from the field goal in his Rookie Year.

Wiseman will not play in the first few games of the season either, but he could be available around October 15th. There is a lot of excitement to see the development of this young star as well as showing more maturity. The return of Wiseman will certainly be a relief for coach Steve Kerr, who was unable to find the right way to substitute the center.

Signs, rumors and unexpected exits:

NBA winner with Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 Avery Bradley has been the Warriors´ last acquisition. He is a player that is going to strengthen the squad and be very useful for rotation in the point guard position. Draymond Green took over the center spot after Wiseman´s injury, but that did not really worked out. There are some important names in the orbit to join the Warriors such as Marc Gasol and Karl-Anthony Towns.

And the main name to sign for the Warriors was Ben Simmons, who has declared in default with the Philadelphia 76ers. The player does not want to play a single minute again with his current team and is looking forward to move somewhere else, but the Warriors have ruled out the possibility to trade him. In fact, the NBA has fined owner Joe Lacob for talking about Simmons (50.000 dollars).

Furthermore, the Warriors might have to also face the possible absence of Andre Wiggins, and not for sporting reasons. The small forward could miss the home games for not being vaccinated against coronavirus. The law of San Francisco does not allow to attend crowded events without being vaccinated. The player has requested an exemption for religious reasons but the NBA has denied it. He would certainly be an unexpected absence looking into the season.

How far can the Warriors make it with a healthy squad? What will happen with Andrew Wiggins?
