Premier League have opened the process to vote for the POTS (Player of the Season) Awards. Kevin de Bruyne was the winner last year and now is the main candidate again. However, the competition for this edition is tough. Let´s review the nominees.
Kevin De Bruyne
Días has led his team´s defense on his debut in the Premier League. He has been one of the best central defenders of the year in Europe. He has been a key player to conquer the title. In fact, he has already been awarded as the Player of the Year in the Premier by the FWA (Football Writers Association).
Manchester United´s star has scored 18 goals and given 12 assists in 37 matches. This way, the ‘Red Devils’ offensive performance relies on his talent and inspiration mostly. He has proved to be a top player since he came to the Premier League. His numbers endorse and now he is nominated among the bests.
We already talked about the Englishman star. This year he has given 10 assists and scored six goals, but he has showed a top level beyond his numbers. Just like Bruno Fernandes, he is the main guy on his team, Aston Villa.
He has been a referent for many years in the Premier League and he has been the top scorer and assistant this season in the league. We analyzed his current situation a few days ago. The truth is that his performance has been excellent and he is the player who stands out the most statistically. He is one of the main candidates for the POTS.
The young player from the Chelsea Academy has made it to the Premier League thanks to his work and talent. He has already consolidated himself as a key player for ‘The Blues’ and now has the chance to earn the POTS. Polyvalence, vision, technique and dare are some of his main characteristics, as he promises to be a star in the next few years.
Salah is one of the nominees mostly thanks to the number of goals he has scored (22, only one less than Kane). Liverpool have had a bad year, but the Egyptian´s accuracy on target has been a bless for ‘The Reds’.
Souček´s excellent performance at West Ham couldn´t go unnoticed for the nominations. He has scored 10 goals, which is a great stat for a midfielder. However, his overall contribution on the field is what makes him shine: decisive defensively and effective forward. No doubt that he is one of the best signs of the season.
