After the international break, LaLiga is back in style. Barça have returned just as they left, with great pressure and a high tempo that saw them overpower Girona. Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid both got the job done and are still four points behind the leaders, as are Villarreal. Sevilla have caught some air, while Getafe, Las Palmas and Valencia confirm their poor start by occupying the relegation places. We begin with ‘LaLiga Overtime’ from matchday 5.

Barça sweep to the rhythm of Lamine Yamal:
FC Barcelona continue to win in emphatic fashion, and this time they did it with an outstanding Lamine Yamal. The Spanish winger scored a brace and put in a brilliant performance, creating danger time and time again. Flick‘s side continue to demonstrate their great fitness and verticality with their forward pressing and effectiveness up front. The Catalan side continue to be in fine form.
Gallagher shines and ‘The Spider’ stings:
Atlético de Madrid comfortably beat a very poor Valencia side, with Connor Gallagher the main positive. The English midfielder had a great game with a goal, but it wasn’t the only big news, as Julián Álvarez scored his first goal as a rojiblanco despite coming off the bench.
Valencia have once again shown that, unless the situation improves a lot, they could suffer a lot if they are to stay in the category. Rubén Baraja isn’t finding the key to compete in this start of the season in which his team has taken one point out of a possible 15. Real Madrid win without shine:
Carlo Ancelotti’s side continue to have a lot of tactical problems, both in pressing and in transitions and ball distribution. Vinícius Jr. and Mbappé each scored a goal from the penalty spot in a game in which the home side hit Courtois‘ post three times.

As for Real Sociedad, Imanol Alguacil‘s side have made a terrible start to the season and have taken four points from 15.
Matchday 5 has been fairly consistent with what we were seeing before this break. We will see how the start of the European competitions influences the big teams and if Barça continue to be unbeatable.
