Spanish football average fan does not like Getafe CF. Supposedly, because they “play dirty”, waste time and make too many fouls, among other things. Sometimes, because they also hold the big fishes from winning certain games, even though they count on the respect from most of the crowd (and budget).

Other times, based on some specific actions from few players that irritate their opponents and drag the critics from those who just watch clips on the social media but just can’t watch full games because they last too much. A so common and wrong prejudice from those who only watch Barça and Madrid, and not even that. Precisely, the first one is not doing that much better.

Getafe CF, led by his head coach José Bordalás, is a handcrafted team, annoying, brave and disciplined. All of them qualities. And, by the way, not defensive at all (another huge quality for any squad if that feature provides positive outcomes), based on the imposed labels by those who are still stuck in the past. His first time at Getafe CF was defensive, sure. And he reached Europe. Now, through a way more proactive approach, he is also heading towards it.

UD Las Palmas are the trending squad in Spain this season, a ver well-worked squad and nice to watch, whose biggest merit is the fact that they have kept and made profitable a very offensive playing style inherited from the Second Division. The praises on them are deserved, and so they have been given them at this media.

However, Getafe are also displaying an offensive playing style in the current season, even though this fact is usually forgotten and even discredited, probably due to personal quarrels towards a true coach rather than sporting reasons.

Bordalás squad, who joined in at the end of last season in order to avoid relegation after three convulsed years without the coach that was born to lead this team, is about to finish the first part of the current campaign as one of the top scoring squads, with more than one goal scored per game and a positive balance of scored and conceded goals up to this point.

Getafe are impressing and shutting up many mouths, led by an outstanding Borja Mayoral who should be called up for the Spanish National Team, a Greenwood who has dragged the attention from the big fishes thanks to his astonishing performances, and a solid squad of players like Luis Milla, Jaime Mata, Maksimovic, Alderete, Gastón Álvarez, Diego Rico or David Soria that, apart from leaving it all on the field, they also know how to play proper football.

It is clear that Getafe are disturbing and answering on the field while the usual haters, who are just mad for the resistance of those teams that also know how to make things right with less resources, keep criticizing with no sense and, most importantly, they do so without even watching the games.

Meanwhile, Bordalás Getafe’s most attractive version are heading towards Europe and excite to the Coliseum every Sunday led by a coach without complex, honest and hard-worker, who is an expert at taking his players to the next level and does not pay attention to the external noise from both malicious and wrong critics.

Yes indeed, Bordalás is just focused on coaching and does not waste time on making up stupid excuses or justifying defeats on rivals, the media, the weather or other external circumstances. Others, who are well-protected by the media shield of the big fishes, can’t say the same.
