The NBA All-Star weekend will be held this month in Cleveland from the 18 to the 20 dates. It will kick off with the Rising Stars, the renewed event that play the young players of the league, as they will now have more opportunities to stand out dueto its new format.
New format, more young talent:
The old Rising Stars format consisted of a game between the Rookies and the Sophomores. This season they have decided to substitute that game for a four-teams tournament. Furthermore, four players from the G-League will play for the first time on this edition. Each team is formed by seven players (6 from the NBA and one from the G-League) coached by a historical player from the league.
Each game will be done whenever a team reaches a specific number of points, no specific time set. The semifinals will be up to 50 points and the final to 25, a total of 75 points in order to pay tribute to the NBA 75th anniversary.
The Rising stars teams:
Team Isaiah Thomas:
Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Precious Achiuwa (Toronto Raptors), Desmond Bane, (Memphis Grizzlies), Saddiq Bey (Detroit Pistons), Isaiah Stewart (Detroit Pistons) and Jaden Hardy (G-League).
Team James Worthy:
Jalen Green (Houston Rockets), Cole Anthony (Orlando Magic), Josh Giddey (Oklahoma City Thunder), Herbert Jones (New Orleans Pelicans), Tyrese Maxey, (Philadelphia 76ers), Jalen Suggs (Orlando Magic) and MarJon Beauchamp (G-League).
Team Rick Barry:
Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Evan Mobley (Cleveland Cavaliers), Isaac Okoro (Cleveland Cavaliers), Alperen Sengun (Houston Rockets), Jae’Sean Tate (Houston Rockets), Franz Wagner (Orlando Magic) and Dyson Daniels (G-League).
Team Gary Payton:
LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets), Scottie Barnes (Toronto Raptors), Ayo Dosunmu (Chicago Bulls), Chris Duarte (Indiana Pacers), Jaden McDaniels (Minnesota Timberwolves), Davion Mitchell (Sacramento Kings) and Scoot Henderson (G-League).
Clorox Clutch Challenge:
A shooting contest will take place between the semifinals and the final where four couples of players will have to score from five different spots by recreating iconic plays from the Playoffs. Each couple will have a ball and will have to alternate their shots. The first time will have 90 seconds to score from all the five different positions. Then each duo will have to even or lower the result all the way until the fastest ones win the Clorox Clutch Challenge.
These are the couples for the Clorox Clutch Challenge: Tyrese Haliburton-Desmond Bane, Scottie Barnes-Chris Duarte, Evan Mobley-Josh Giddey y Fanbo Zeng-Michael Foster Jr (estos últimos de la G-League).
