Madrid get their third win of the season. This time, Zidane returned to the 4-3-3 system instead of the 4-4-2´s that he used against Betis and Valladolid. Today he chose Asensio and Vinicius to play along Benzema forward. It looks like this accomplish is more effective than the others, but not not all that glitters is gold. Let´s see.
Vinicius goal was the reflect of the entire first half. The young brazilian was left alone on a corner rebound and had all the time to take the shot. What a disastrous defense by Levante, as they watched the goal from the first line. On the other hand, we have to mention the great job by Madrid´s midfield, today formed by Modric, Valverde and Casemiro, since they held back Levante´s attempts from progressing on the opponent´s half.
Second half started with Madrid bombarding Levante´s goal but, surprisingly, non of their chances went in. Benzema hit the post, Vinicius missed an easy chip… It was maddening to see all those mistakes in a row. The VAR disallowed a goal by Ramos as he was slightly offside. And then it came Courtois´ turn. The Belgian showed a very high level and made several saves to avoid Levante´s equalizer. No doubt he was one of the players who stood out the most. Benzema´s goal in extra time certified the win for The Whites.
In fact, Madrid are still undefeated and lead LaLiga by the time we are writing this, but the ghosts from the past are coming back as well. The midfield´s job must be complemented with strikers who actually score goals, as they struggle to do so. Vinicius´one was Levante´s defense demerit and Benzema´s was a counterattack in extra time. It is a Real Madrid with lights, but also with shadows that Zizou has to control if they want to conquer the title again.
