Very disputed match where there was barely any ball circulation through the midfield. Home team Leganés had the first chance through a cross from the left by Kévin Rodrígues that forward Braithwaite shot to the opponent´s net, but Real Sociedad keeper Álex Remiro did a great safe and sent it to the corner.

Leganés overturned most of his playing attack through their left wing formed by Jonathan Silva and Kévin Rodrígues at the same time as they were trying to impose themselves on the midfield battle.

Real Sociedad´s coach Imanol Aguacil decided to leave his two most important players, Mikel Oyarzábal and Martin Odegard, in the bench in order to give them some rest ahead of this week´s upcoming Spanish Cup game at the Bernabéu. The Danish midfielder got some playing time in the second half, but he went by unnoticed.

Real Sociedad scored the first goal after a deficient throw by Leganés keeper Juan Soriano that Real Sociedad´s forward Isak took to shoot to the opposite post.

Leganés mostly created their opportunities through free kicks and crosses from both sides, but Real Sociedad´s defense were keeping the danger away from their goal. The visiting squad claimed a penalty on Januzaj that the VAR did not concede.

Leganés came back from the looker room with more intensity to get back into the game and they tied it up soon. Forward Braithwaite picked up a croos from the left and passed it to central defender Omeruo, who scored the equalizer.

The game followed a similar path until the end, marked by too many fouls in the midfield that stopped the rhythm constantly.

Just as the game seemed to end in a draw, Leganés player Óscar Rodríguez scored from an outstanding free kick in the last minute to pick up a crucial home win and get his team out of relegation.
