A new LaLiga matchday has just ended with everything still left to be determined in the remaining rounds of the schedule. Real Madrid remain the undisputed leaders and Barcelona’s attempts to cut the gap between have been futile as a result of the consistency of Carlo Ancelotti’s roster. As for Girona, they have mathematically confirmed their first ever participation in European competitions. At the bottom of the standings, a win for Cádiz tightens the fight to avoid relegation. Here we go with the 30th match day edition of LaLiga Overtime.

LaLiga Overtime – Match Day #30:

Ramos rescues Sevilla:

Sevilla took on Getafe in a very demanding duel. José Bordalás’ team, who have lost Borja Mayoral to an injury for the remainder of the season, are very difficult to take down, especially at the Coliseum. The Andalusian club, who are currently submerged in controversy due to the argument between Quique Sánchez Flores and En-Nesyri, capitalized on a player who is not used to flirting with relegation, but always plays his heart out.

Sergio Ramos saved Sevilla doing what he does best. A trademark header that granted three priceless points to the team based in Nervión, who breath a sigh of relief and seem to escape the shadow of relegation in the final stages of the season. Ramos returned to Seville to be a critical piece and, although it has not happened in the circumstances he would have liked, he is playing a major role for the team. Aside from that, we condemn any racist attitude that took place in the stadium towards Quique Sánchez Flores and Marcos Acuña.

Nobody better than Stuani:

Girona have been over the moon this season. A dream from which they hope to never wake up as, after their victory against Betis, they have guaranteed the first qualification for European competitions in club history. A victory that had Cristhian Stuani as its protagonist, aside from Dovbyk, who scored a brace. The Uruguayan striker is always there when his team needs him, and who better than him to score the goal that sealed the deal for ‘Euro Girona’.

Míchel said it best after the match was over: “Stuani is the best player in Girona’s history”. And he is right. He is the top scorer of the Catalan side and his performance was key in both of their promotions. He was also a key component in their magnificent first season in LaLiga, in which he scored 18 goals. A fan favorite striker who will receive a well-deserved award.

At the press conference, Míchel confirmed that Stuani will be in the starting lineup as Girona’s captain for their first ever match in the old continent, regardless of the rival and the competition. No one deserves that honor more than the Uruguayan, a deserved protagonist of this edition of LaLiga Overtime.

Rodrygo smells blood:

We are in the month of April, which means that we have entered the most important period of the season. Both the domestic and European competitions are decided during the fourth month of each year, and Rodrygo Goes knows exactly how things work late into the season.

The Brazilian will always be remembered by Real Madrid fans due to his decisive performance in the 2022 Champions League match-ups against Chelsea and, especially, Manchester City. He would score a lightning fast brace against the Cityzens that would allow his team to advance to the final and, eventually, lift the 14th title in the history of the club.

This year, Rodrygo has been quite inconsistent. With the departure of Benzema, he was expected to take a leap when it comes to goalscoring production, but in spite of improving his previous records, he has struggled statistically.

However, it is now April and Rodrygo smells blood. He scored a brace against Athletic Club, including a stunning first goal, that warns Pep Guardiola and his pupils that Rodrygo’s nightmare could repeat itself. April has arrived and Rodrygo knows it.
