Matchday 30 of LaLiga EASports has once again turned everything upside down. After Real Madrid’s defeat against Valencia CF at the Santiago Bernabéu and FC Barcelona’s draw against Real Betis at Montjuic, Atlético de Madrid managed to take all three points in Seville and, although it will be difficult, regained a glimmer of hope in the fight for LaLiga. In the upper mid-table, RC Celta won at Mallorca to consolidate seventh place and in the lower mid-table, Deportivo Alavés and RCD Espanyol won their respective games to move away from the relegation zone. LaLiga Overtime 24/25 – Match Day #30:
Valencia CF storm the Santiago Bernabéu:
Real Madrid went into the game without Lunin and with debutant Fran González against a Valencia CF side who were on a good run of form and looking to spoil the afternoon for ‘The Whites’, who, had they won, would have had to rely on themselves for the league title. Carlo Ancelotti’s side’s performance once again made the Santiago Bernabéu desperate for another day, especially in the first half. ‘Los Merengues’ were once again poorly positioned, suffered more than they should have done without the ball, and were flat in attack.
In the second half, Real Madrid upped the tempo and tried to turn the score around. Vinicius Jr finished alone in the second from a corner to make it 1-1. It looked as if ‘The Whites’ were beginning to accelerate and created chance after chance, but they were met by the best version of Giorgi Mamardashvili, who had a truly superb game. In stoppage time, and with the home side on the attack, Rafa Mir put in a fabulous cross for Hugo Duro to fire home from a superb counter-attack, taking a valuable point for Valencia and keeping them out of the relegation zone.
FC Barcelona are held to a draw by Real Betis:
Hansi Flick’s side were under pressure as they could have all but sealed the championship after Real Madrid’s defeat. ‘The Culés’ came into the game strong, creating chances and taking the lead in the first few minutes with a goal from Gavi, but the joy was short-lived, as Natan equalised with a header ten minutes later.
In a second half in which FC Barcelona dominated possession and territorial control, Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis were very solid and Barça struggled to create clear chances to take the game. With this result, the ‘Verdiblancos’ remain in sixth position, level on points with Villarreal CF, who have a game in hand, and the ‘Blaugranas’ remain leaders, four points ahead of Real Madrid and seven ahead of Atlético de Madrid.
Atlético de Madrid cling to the epic:
After last week’s draw, Simeone’s side were practically out of the title race, but the slip-ups by Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have revived the Atlético side. Sevilla FC went into the game strong and took the lead through Agoumé from outside the box, but Julián Álvarez equalised from the penalty spot and the ‘Colchoneros’ went all out for the win.
After a very intense second half, Pablo Barrios scored a great goal in stoppage time to give to the ‘Colchoneros’ a vital win and add extra excitement to the end of LaLiga, as although their chances are minimal, Atlético de Madrid are back in the fight for the title and LaLiga EASports is once again a three-way battle. In the next editions of ‘LaLiga Overtime’, we will see who ends up taking the title.
