Matchday 29 of LaLiga EASports has left important results for the last nine rounds of the championship. Atlético de Madrid said goodbye to LaLiga almost definitively after a 1-1 draw against RCD Espanyol, who are clinging on to relegation. Atlético de Madrid move away from the championship:
With nine games left in the championship, Simeone’s side were held to a draw by Manolo Gonzalez’s RCD Espanyol, leaving them six points behind Real Madrid and nine points behind FC Barcelona. A distance that is practically unapproachable with only a few games left to play. In purely footballing terms, the colchoneros’ play was somewhat flat and they struggled to create danger against a very solid RCD Espanyol.
‘The Pericos’ proved to be a hard-working team and earned a valuable point that could be decisive at the end of the season, as they are two points clear of relegation with a game in hand. The loan signings of Roberto Fernández and Urko González in the winter transfer window gave the team a leap in quality that is making a difference in the standings.
Real Madrid’s controversial victory over CD Leganés:

The first was a harsh penalty on Arda Güler, which the Frenchman converted ‘Panenka-style’ to demonstrate his confidence; the second was a foul by Renato Tapia on Rodrygo in which the ‘pepineros‘ players claimed that the Peruvian touched the ball. Likewise, Mbappé put the ball away in a move planned by Carlo Ancelotti‘s staff, scoring a stunning goal and proving that he is already the star he was expected to be.
On the other hand, Borja Jiménez’s CD Leganés showed their quality by punishing a Real Madrid side who were very messy in their transitions thanks to the quality of players like Dani Raba and Juan Cruz. The truth is that Los Blancos had chances to win the game without the refereeing controversy, but their game without the ball was not up to the mark and it took its toll.
Real Betis win an attractive derby:
Manuel Pellegrini’s side won their first league derby since 2018 in a very encouraging game for Real Betis. Isco Alarcón took control of the midfield alongside Johnny Cardoso and Los Verdiblancos dominated possession. In addition to this, ‘Cucho’ Hernández was on target again and Bartra and Diego Llorente were once again at a very high level.
Sevilla FC competed, but did not have their best day. García Pimienta’s men barely threatened the goal defended by Adrián San Miguel and their man of the match, Dodi Lukebakio, was unable to appear in the match. Rubén Vargas was the one who did appear, scoring a great goal in his first derby and being his team’s most influential player. With this result, the ‘Sevillistas’ occupy the eleventh position in the table, while Real Betis is tied on points with Villarreal, who have a game in hand.
