As one of the last moves in the Premier League summer transfer window, Brighton & Hove Albion announced the signing of Turkish international Ferdi Kadioğlu.

The young full-back from Fenerbahçe has been one of the biggest sensations of this summer’s EURO and Brighton have managed to overtake other teams in the race to sign him during the final stretch of the window. The Turkish international has signed a four-year deal with ‘The Seagulls’ in a transfer worth 25 million pounds.

Ferdi Kadioğlu, a versatile talent:

Born in the Netherlands, Kadioğlu began his career in the youth academy of ESA before joining NEC Nijmegen, where he played 70 matches. In 2018, he made the leap to Fenerbahçe and became a critical part of the team by recording 204 appearances, 18 goals and 22 assists.

A solid background in one of the biggest teams in Turkey that provides him with great experience in elite football despite his youth (he is 24 years old).

His versatility allows him to play at right-back, left-back and even in midfield, thus adding valuable tactical flexibility for Brighton.

In fact, the manager of ‘The Seagulls’, Fabián Hurzeler, has recently expressed his excitement for Kadioğlu’s arrival in the British media, highlighting the player’s great character, his explosiveness and passing ability in the process. He has also stated that he is confident that Kadioğlu will adapt quickly to the Premier League.

The impact of Ferdi Kadioğlu on the team:

Kadioğlu will compete for spot in the starting lineup with Pervis Estupiñán and Jack Hinshelwood. His ability to break the opposing lines with his passes and his ball control will be vital for the playstyle of the team managed by Hurzeler. His international experience with Turkey, with whom he has been called-up in 20 occasions, will also be a valuable asset for his new team.

A promising future:

The acquisition of Kadioğlu not only strengthens Brighton’s squad, but also reflects the club’s strategy of investing in young talent with potential to develop, as they have been doing for several seasons now. Kadioğlu has joined ‘The Seagulls’ in the same way that players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Moisés Caicedo or Billy Glimour, who have gone on to become top tier players in Europe, arrived at the club in the past.

Kadioğlu could make his debut very soon, right after the international break is over, to be precise. Brighton fans are looking forward to seeing the club’s new signing in action and how he will contribute to the team’s aspirations in the most competitive league in the world.
