LaLiga Overtime is back. This week, the fourth LaLiga matchday has come to an end and there will be an international break. Things haven’t changed in Barcelona, as after a spectacular match, Flick’s side are still top of the table with a clean sheet.
Villarreal and Alavés both have seven points, while Claudio Giráldez’s Celta appear to be on the wane after losing at El Sadar to Osasuna, who are also gaining momentum. Atlético de Madrid, meanwhile, stayed in the title race with a dramatic win at San Mamés.
In the relegation zone, the positive note was taken by Espanyol, who, with an agonising win, picked up their first victory of the season and took a breath of fresh air. Something similar happened at Butarque, where Mallorca took all three points and moved into mid-table. Míchel’s Girona are taking off and Getafe and Real Sociedad were held to a draw. LaLiga Overtime 24/25 – Match Day #4:
Raphinha leads a great Barça:
FC Barcelona are undoubtedly being the star performers at the start of the league. Hansi Flick is getting a great performance from his players and Raphinha has been one of the most surprising. The Brazilian had a great game against Valladolid, leading the way up front.
It’s all good news at Camp Barça, as Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo are also showing a very high level. The two European champions are making the difference as expected and Olmo is the LaLiga signing who is proving to be the most decisive for his team.
On top of this, Lewandowski continues to find the net. It seems that Flick has improved many players and that Barça have got it right with their coach. The team is more worked out and is much more physically fit.
Ángel Correa rescues Atlético de Madrid:
‘Los colchoneros’ side visited San Mamés, one of the most difficult stadiums in the competition, with the need to win to stay in the fight for the title. Simeone’s side gave their all and managed to take all three points in a hard-fought game.
Julián Álvarez was once again quite discreet and it was Sørloth and Correa from the bench who managed to shake up the match and swing it in Diego Pablo Simeone’s side, who with this victory, remain four points behind Barcelona. Other highlights of the match included Gallagher’s debut as a starter and Musso in goal.
As for Valverde’s team, the start of the season has been quite complicated and they have only taken four points out of a possible 12. The sensations are much improved and the team isn’t showing the strength it had last season at home. Athletic Club have a lot of work to do to improve their results and compete for fourth or fifth place.
Real Madrid win with a brace from Mbappé:
Mbappé scored a brace at the Bernabéu as a somewhat improved but lacklustre Real Madrid triumphed. Ancelotti’s side looked a little more compact, although there was still a certain anxiety and lack of precision from the players up front, as well as Tchouaméni’s performance, which was also lacking.
Valverde was, undoubtedly, the MVP of a rather discreet game for ‘Los Merengues‘. The Uruguayan showed his tremendous physical power and stride, breaking lines when driving and winning duels at the back. The sensations have improved slightly and Kylian was able to enjoy the first ovation from the Bernabéu.
