Another match on LaLiga return, this one between two teams that share a very attractive playing style and they are both forced to win in order to achieve their season goals. Celta are currently on the 17th spot, right above relegation where Mallorca, Leganés and Espanyol are at the moment. On the other side, Villarreal are on the 9th position, so they need to pick up points if they do not want to take down on the battle for European spots along with Granada, Valencia, Atlético and Getafe.
First half had a very intense rhythm, with Villarreal dominating the game and controlling the ball possession, which led them to also have the clearest chances. Midfielder Cazorla warned at first in the 15th minute, and his teammate Iborra had a big one for the visiting team with a shot from right outside the box, but Celta´s keeper Rubén Blanco made a good save. With this context, home team tried to take advantage on counterattacks or set pieces.
Second half was promising, but nothing could be further from the truth. Despite the sunny day at Balaídos stadium, the match cooled down. Villarreal stopped dominating the game and both teams spent all their substitutions trying to change the direction. It was Villarreal forwards Samu Chukwueze and Carlos Bacca the ones who had the chances to score. Suddenly, just as the game seemed to end on a draw, an attacking play by Villarreal full of rebounds in the last minute endedwith a shot by Manu Trigueros that went into the net.
This way, Villarreal climbs up to the 8th spot, but they will not count on Iborra for the next game, as he saw a yellow card for a foul he did not make and for he will be suspended, but his team will certainly appeal it. On the other side Celta sinks on the low part of the table and could sleep on relegation if Mallorca adds any point against Barcelona.
