Tottenham Hotspur have announced the purchase of Sergio Reguilón (23 years old), who comes from Real Madrid. The Whites will receive 30M for the transfer plus 5 in variables. Moreover, real madrid have included two interesting clauses on the deal: First, they have an option to get him back for 10 more millions than the transfer price. Furthermore, if any other club makes an offer to buy him, Tottenham will have to let Madrid know in case they want to equalize the offer. This situation already took place with Mariano Díaz in 2018.
The Spanish signs for the Spurs until 2025. However, it looked like his destination was in Manchester. Reguilón was interested in playing for the Red Devils but, according to the journalist Fabricio Romano, the Old Trafford club was not willing to accept the requested clauses by Real Madrid.
Even though he was only been in the elite for two years, he is one of the players who stood out the most last season. After jumping into the first team with Solari in 2018, Madrid decided to loan him to Sevilla after signing Ferland Mendy. He has played 38 games at Sevilla, scoring three goals and giving five assists. He began as a starter at the kick off of LaLiga; while Escudero played the Europa League group stage matches. However, once football returned in June, Lpetegui bet for him and he ended up playing everything both at LaLiga and the Europa League. Thanks to his excellent fitness and continuous growth, he had an important role on winning Sevilla´s sixth Europa League title.
Tottenham Hotspur signs a player that is constantly improving, even though he has not reached his peak yet. Furthermore, he will be a great addition for the left back position, where they only had Ben Davies. The Welsh is good at defending, but he barely makes offensive runs. This way, Reguilón will provide Mourinho with an attacking option on the left back so he does not necessarily have to use it just defensively, as Reguilón stands out at going up the wing. However, there is a weak point that can affect him on his performance at the Premier League: his thin body.
