It´s official: Luis Suárez leaves FC Barcelona and signs for Atlético. The striker ends up heading to Madrid after a crazy summer at Barça, where coach Koeman told Suárez that he was not going to count on him for next season.
Luis Suárez comes to Atlético as a free agent, so the Rojiblancos do not have to pay anything for the transfer. However, Barça could earn up to 6 millions in bonuses. Another incomprehensibly mistake by their Board of Directors, as they are unable to make money from transfers and, moreover, strengthen the attacking area of a direct rival in LaLiga.
It seemed that he was going to play for Juventus, but this possibility was ruled out, as he would not obtain the Italian passport in time before the transfer market closes.
His arrival at Atlético forces other forwards to look for another team to play for, specially Diego Costa and Morata. The club´s priority was to sell Costa, but there are not any offers on him. For this reason, Morata has been the one to finally leave, as he returns to Juventus on a one-season loan deal. No doubt this is a risky move for Atlético, as it is clear that Suárez scores more goals than Morata, but he is also older and has been struggling with physical issues recently. Time will dictate sentence.
