Hansi Flick’s Barça managed to scrape another win against a very intense and hard-fought Rayo Vallecano. The culer side has given mixed sensations because, in addition to the three points, Robert Lewandowski is still on fire and Dani Olmo scored a great goal in his debut, so they clearly deserved to be part of this week’s edition of LaLiga Overtime.
The bad news came with the injury of Marc Bernal, who played an outstanding match and will miss most of the remainder of the season,
The culer side are sill leading the standings and will face Valladolid at home on saturday as the last burden to make it undefeated to the international break. The situation of Baraja‘s pupils is quite delicate as Villarreal, who are on a roll and will look to remain at the top of the standings, will visit Mestalla before the international break.
Real Madrid and Atlético drop points again:
Atlético’s fanbase have expressed their disappointment after another setback in the start of the league. For many, the ‘colchoneros’ should contend for the title, but clearly this is not the way to go. We will see if the signings start to come together, as they will visit San Mamés this weekend. Julián Álvarez and company are still nowhere to be found and have yet to meet expectations performance-wise.
As for Real Madrid, the performance of Ancelotti‘s squad has been worrying. The team is completely unbalanced, with a lot of space between lines and still not showing fluid ball movement. Vinícius and Mbappé have shown a rather poor version of themselves and the ‘merengues’ have not being able to find the right playstyle for their squad without Kroos and with Mbappé.
