Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have decided to part ways, so the club owned by Todd Boehly has to look for a substitute to lead a liner that has been sunk for a couple seasons.
One of the candidates that has been rumored to join them right away and who was inevitably going to be named is Thomas Tuchel. The German manager won a Champions League during his brief but successful stint at Stamford Bridge in which, after building a solid core, he was able to knock out Real Madrid from the tournament.
The truth is that, ever since his departure and the change of ownership, the Londoner club has not been able to regain the stability they had with him, which makes him the most desired signing by the club’s fanbase. The now former Bayern coach would try to give an identity to a project that is following an erratic course.
In addition to being an expert in obtaining good levels of performance in short periods of time, it would also be interesting to see what role he gives to players like Enzo Fernández, Mudryk, Cole Palmer or Nkunku.
Another one of the names that is being linked to the bench many top teams in Europe is Hansi Flick, who has also been rumored to join clubs like FC Barcelona or Bayern. The truth is that, according to the Spanish media, the German coach could end up in Barcelona. However, German journalist Christian Falk assures that Stamford Bridge is among the top destinations for the manager.
When it comes to his impact in football terms, under Flick, Chelsea would display a combinative style with a very high pressing pace, which would clearly benefit players like Moisés Caicedo or Enzo Fernández.
In addition, it would also be interesting to see how he reassembles the defensive line after the departure of captain Thiago Silva. Pieces like Fofana, who will return from injury, or the Frenchman Badiashile could improve their performance.
The third candidate is Roberto de Zerbi. The Italian coach would make a transition from Brighton to Chelsea, that already did not work for Graham Potter.

All of the candidates seem to have an interesting and coherent case to build a project around them. However, the main mistake that Chelsea made in the past was making multiple overpriced signings as a result of not having a proper sporting department as part of their front office, a setback that has brought them serious problems when it comes to building their squad.
Aside form having severe issues with financial fair play, the Blues have accumulated too many players and many of whom’s value has dropped significantly and whose departure would cause the club to lose money.
We will see how the successor of Pochettino faces this challenge and must also pay attention to many players of this roster who have very high upside and could break out next season.
