Antonio Conte signed for Inter Milan in the summer of 2019 with a clear goal in mind: to guide the club back to the Italian soccer peak. Almost two years later, the reputed coach has begun the final sprint in the race towards the ‘Scudetto’. There are only 8 games left after the meet against Cagliari and Inter are the main candidate. The advantage they have right now -11- invites us to believe that they will stay on top until the end unless a catastrophe happens.
What are the main factors for Inter´s dominance in the Serie A so far? As we mentioned at the start of the season, Conte has built an author team. That time we pointed out the role from Lukaku-Lautaro´s duo, who have scored 36 goals and given 14 assists. Defensive solidity has also been a key aspect: they are the second team in the Serie A that have conceded the less goals.
Apart from their quality, we must praise their ability to not waver in key moments, their weakness in the last campaigns. Their outcome in the Champions League was very disappointing, just as their knock out in the Italian Cup. However, they have been very regular in the league and have only lost two games. This way, they have managed to win and even beat direct rivals in meets that were supposed to be tough ones.
Juventus´poor season has also made their way towards the title easier. Pirlo took over with zero minutes of experience as a coach. In the end, numbers do not lie: he was not ready for the job. Without going too much deeper, it is necessary to mention his Juve´s low competitive level.
The club from Turin will precisely be the one that will abandon the lead in Italy after nine years. No matter if it ends up being Inter or Milan, it seems almost impossible that the Vecchia Signora makes a comeback. This way, the time has come for a new Champion. Antonio Conte has it on his hands and he is just a month ago from getting the ‘Nerazzurri’ back to the Calcio´s top.
