The top scorer of the Premier League on August 23rd is a Spanish player and his name is Rodrigo Moreno. The striker for Leeds United has already scored four goals in just three games against all odds, which is only three less than his record in a season as a ‘White’.

Rodrigo has always been featured as an associative player and at Leeds his position has mostly been a second striker instead of a pure one, as Patrick Bamford has been the one to play that role in the last few seasons. However, in these first games we have seen Rodrigo playing forward and with an astonishing scoring ability

His time at LaLiga Santander was not bad at all, but it was not the best possible either numbers wise. 38 goals in 172 games of league do not correspond to a top worldwide striker, even though he did not always play in that position.

But the Spanish international is more than a simple pure 9 whose job is just to head any cross from a teammate. Rodrigo has the required quality to play in other positions like a winger or a playmaker. His role since his arrival to Elland Road was way more similar to that playing style than to the central striker of a team.

After such an outstanding start into the season and even though Spain count on a huge list of strikers towards the Qatar World Cup such as Álvaro Morata, Ansu Fati, Gerard Moreno, Iago Aspas or Juanmi, among others, Luis Enrique must keep an eye on Leeds if Rodrigo maintains this level.

Furthermore, he has already played for the Spanish National Team in 27 appearances where he has been able to find the net eight times, which are decent numbers. For this reason and after such a great start, Rodrigo is one of the main candidates to be called up from the Spanish National Team head coach.
