Álvaro Morata has always been a peculiar player whose career has been marked by the instability that he has experienced in each of the teams he has played for. Teams that are all of them the bests in the planet and for which he always dreamed of playing for since he was a kid. And teams where, most of the time, he has been unable to settle down at.
Now, as in every transfer market, the Spanish striker is about to be a main character once again in order to find out his immediate future. Where will he play? Where does he want to play and which team wants him? What is his dream now? What is going to happen?
Morata currently has an extra year contract with Atlético de Madrid. However, neither they want him to return nor he wants to. What the ‘Rojiblanco’ club wants is to sell him in order to carry out very needed reinforcements, starting from the offensive area.
Atlético have just been orphaned in the striker position after a season where they have clearly missed a scoring reference. Suárez, who made the champions the previous year, has been diluted as time has passed by and his fitness has punished him. It was obvious that his time at Atlético would be over by the end of his second season.
In fact, one of the aspects where Simeone’s team has struggled the most this year has been the scoring factor. Specifically, through a devastating data: Suárez and Correa were the top scorers of the team with just 13 goals each. This is the lowest stat in the entire decade that the Argentinian coach has been in charge.
Precisely, the previous one was with Morata: 16 goals in the 19/20 campaign and an identical third spot in the table. In the other occasions, Cholo always had someone who has able to score at least 20 goals.

However, even though Morata and Atlético know perfectly what they want, Juventus do not satisfy their desires because they are not willing to pay what the market says Morata costs.
Football aspects apart, the ‘Vecchia Signora’ only want the striker for 15 million euros, despite his buying clause, which was agreed by both clubs, stipulates a total price of 35 million euros. Too far away.
As it couldn’t be any other way, Atlético are not willing to, and neither they should, accept these terms, but time is running out for them. They really need to get rid of someone they do not want and they need to make profit in order to sign a better player for the spot.
The negotiations are stuck and, according to GOAL, a possible outcome if an agreement is not reached would be that Morata extended his contract with Atlético for an extra year so he could also lengthen his loan in Italy for another season and in exchange for 10 million euros.
From my point of view, this is not a great scenario for Atlético at all, since, even though they would keep the option to sell him towards next season, at the same time they would lose the required capital they need to strengthen the team this year. And they really need to do so.
What it is clear is that Atlético need a pure and top level striker that they currently do not have. Because Morata is not that either. With Darwin Núñez on his way to Liverpool, RDT is the right man for the job. But Atlético need to get rid of Morata in order to close this deal.
Morata has always had a lot of dreams and has moved around constantly throughout his career, but it seems that no one is willing to bet it all on him anymore. Because marketing also ends at some point.
Atlético can’t keep such an apathetic forward if they want to battle for titles again. Morata not. No way.
