Matchday 32 of LaLiga EA Sports has left us with a lot of controversy in different stadiums and results that bring FC Barcelona closer to the title. Real Madrid beat Athletic Club and Atlético de Madrid let slip the few options they had left to fight for the title in Las Palmas. With the day’s results, the red zone is occupied by Deportivo Alavés, CD Leganés and Real Valladolid. LaLiga Overtime of matchday 32 kicks off!
LaLiga Overtime 24/25 – Match Day #32:
FC Barcelona came from behind against a great RC Celta:
Hansi Flick’s side were at home to an RC Celta side who always make things difficult for FC Barcelona. Claudio Giráldez once again played a brave game and the Vigo side were 1-3 up in the 62nd minute. It looked like they had it in their hands to keep getting closer to the Champions League places, but within six minutes, Barça had already tied the game.
The introduction of Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo brought the Culés back to life and the lack of forcefulness and sharpness played a dirty trick on the visiting team. In addition to all this, there were some controversial refereeing issues, such as a possible penalty on Mingueza, an action in which the Vigo players claimed aggression by Raphinha on Aspas and a grab by Íñigo Martínez on a Pablo Durán who was going off alone against the goalkeeper. However, Raphinha’s goal in stoppage time turned around a game that Celta could not win even with a hat-trick from Borja Iglesias.
Atlético de Madrid let themselves go at Las Palmas:
The red and white team had been giving the impression of slackness since the Champions League elimination and this weekend it was confirmed against UD Las Palmas. The Canaries took the game in the dying moments with a vital goal that lifts them out of the relegation zone, and secured the team’s second consecutive win.
It was clear that UD Las Palmas were playing for their live and in the week of Antoine Griezmann‘s renewal, Simeone’s side were quite flat and found it difficult to put a serious strain on a home side who played a very serious game, producing one of the surprises of the day.
Real Madrid come back to life in the last minute:
Carlo Ancelotti’s side played a great second half against an Athletic Club side who were physically exhausted from the Europa League match. With Iñaki Williams and Sancet on the bench and Nico Williams missing, the Basques gave their all at the Bernabéu and almost snatched a draw. Real Madrid stalled in the first half but, after the break, something changed.
The return to the 4-4-2 formation improved the speed of the Merengues’ movement and they put Unai Simón in trouble on several occasions. So much so that towards the end of the game, the VAR disallowed a goal by Vinicius Jr for offside by Endrick and did not signal a penalty for contact between Unai Núñez and Bellingham. However, Fede Valverde came to the rescue in stoppage time with an unlikely shot into the top corner, leaving his side alive in the title race. We will see in the next editions of LaLiga Overtime if Real Madrid take the title.
