Granada CF seem to be smiling again in the decisive stretch of the season. The nasrid side have picked up a number of positive results and have managed to climb out of the relegation places after a long time. One of the names in the squad is Cristina Postigo, a player who is performing in all the positions required by her team.
Cristina Postigo is the type of player who usually goes unnoticed by the media and doesn’t make the headlines. However, the player from Malaga is one of the most important players for Granada in recent years. Postigo’s beginnings in football began as most girls do: playing football with boys. The footballer born in Cártama (Málaga) took her first steps as a player in UD Santa Rosalía Maqueda, a neighbourhood club in the province. The defender played for this club from the age of six (Prebenjamin) until the age of 16 (Cadet), where she signed for Málaga CF in the 2014/2015 season.
Despite his youth, Postigo quickly established himself in the Blue and Whites’ first team. From the very first moment, she showed that she wasn’t afraid to take on the big players and she grew very quickly as a footballer. In Málaga realised that they had a real diamond in the rough in their squad: a disciplined player, technically very good, quick, intelligent and with innate leadership.
Her best moment in Málaga came in the 2017/2018 season, where she won promotion to the Iberdrola League. That campaign for the Blue and Whites was a real spectacle and Postigo was one of the most important players. The following year, she would experience relegation on the last matchday, but her year was one to remember and many teams began to put her name on their agendas. It was a year full of emotions that made him mature as a footballer.
She continued with her home club for another year in the second division, where she was once again one of the most outstanding players. Malaga failed to win promotion and the player made a very tough decision. Postigo decided to leave for Granada CF in the 2020/2021 season under the guidance of former Malaguist coach José Herrera, and took a step forward in her career. The nasrid project was very ambitious and had big things in mind.
She now has four seasons in the Granada first team and has accumulated 100 games wearing the red and white jersey this weekend. A total of 18 matches in Liga F, 72 matches in Primera RFEF and 10 matches in Queen’s Cup. She is one of the most beloved players of the Andalusian club. And no wonder.

Postigo’s match against Levante Las Planas should be analysed with a magnifying glass. The player from Cártama played as a pivot in this match and she did it to perfection. She had already played in that position when she was younger because of her ball control, but never in the nasrid team.
Roger Lamesa’s experiment worked thanks to the player’s reading of the game. She was always well positioned on the pitch and was the axis of the midfield that kept the team on its feet at all times. She cut out decisive balls, provided good cover, arrived very well in the second line in the opposition box and gave a lot of freedom to players in the middle, such as Alicia Redondo, in defence.
Cristina Postigo often plays as a centre-back for Granada or even as a right-back when the team needs to cover for dangerous opposition players, as well as covering for injuries. The player never ceases to prove that she always performs well wherever she is called upon and that, at the moment, she is essential for the red and white players.
Sometimes, it can be forgotten that he is only 26 years old and has a great future ahead of her. Postigo has experienced everything in football and still has a long way to go.
