The 2023/2024 season of Liga F has began the same way as the previous one. FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Levante occupy the top 3 positions while the recently promoted Eibar and Granada try to exit and break away from the relegation positions. Other teams like Madrid CFF and Levante Las Planas have surprised everyone and become the revelations of the season.
The solo leader:
The leader has a clear name: FC Barcelona. Once again, the ‘azulgrana’ have been clearly superior to all of their rivals in the domestic domestic competition. The multiple injuries of players like Mapi León, Alexia Putellas or Rolfo do not seem to have affected the team managed by Jona Giráldez in the slightest. Their academy and versatility has allowed the team to work out collectively.
The ‘azulgrana’ are completely overpowering their opponents, and their 5-0 victory at Montjuic against second place holders (with nine less points than Barça) Real Madrid is clear proof of that. The ‘merengue’ side are going through a slump since Weir got injured, one of the many absences that plague their roster this season.
As for Levante, their sensations have been really good, as they are tied in points for second place. Their players have been demanding with themselves and are giving their all to qualify for the Champions League again.
Atlético de Madrid also aspire to reach those heights. The ‘rojiblancas’ want to return to the top European competition and seem to be following the right steps. As of now, they rank fifth (only trailing Levante by one point) and are picking up the pace little by little.
Ajibalde and Sheila Guijarro are on fire up front for Atlético. Players like Banini or Leicy have also been critical to the ‘colchonero’ system in their attempt to compete for everything.
The great revelations:
In Liga F, two teams have stood out from the rest, Madrid CFF and Levante Las Planas. The first of them finished fifth at the end of last year, but they have outdone themselves this season, as they rank fourth in a tie with Levante.
The team located in Madrid have been displaying brilliant football and their work has paid off. Kundanaji is absolutely tearing it up and cannot stop scoring important goals. Their matches have been some od of the most entertaining to see, as they always feature a lot of goals and surprises.
Levante Las Planas stand in the eight position, a very impressive feat when taking into account where they come from. After a year filled with controversy, the Catalan side seem to have established themselves in the First Division. The began the season on a roll. But they have slightly dropped their performance in the last few matches. Their goalkeeper, Nayluisa Cáceres, has been among the best in the league.
A very close relegation zone:
The relegation positions are currently occupied by Sporting de Huelva (one point) and Granada CF (three points). The team located in Huelva has only scored a point against Levante Las Planas. Last season they avoided relegation at the buzzer, but many things need to change for them to remain in the First Division this year. They have really talented players, but they cannot figure out how to work as team and achieve the results they would like.
Granada CF, recently promoted, are suffering a lot in their return to the First Division. The Nasrid side had an impressive debut, as they beat Real Sociedad to start off the league. The ‘rojiblancas’ seemed really promising, but they have not had any luck. Their sensations on the pitch have been good. However, the expected results have note come and relegation is startin to creep up on them.
Other teams like Villarreal (nine points) and Eibar (10 points), who got promoted last season, are also in a risky spot. Both teams have made the most out of their chances to collect points in direct matchups, but have not been able to get out of the lower positions of the table. If they do not start earning points early in 2024, things could become much more complicated for them.
The season is long in Liga F and everything can happen until the last match day.
