Arsenal assaulted Old Trafford and beat Manchester United on one of the most attractive Premier League fixtures of the weekend. Gunner´s win ends with the Red Devils winning streak after their last two victories against PSG and RB Leipzig; and a draw versus Chelsea in a game where they had chances to get the three points. However, they displayed a pretty flat approach and did not have offensive fluency at all. In fact, they did not create any scoring opportunity.
The club from North London, which had not scored in their last two matches, against Manchester City and Leicester, pulled it off through a PK taken by Aubameyang. Arsenal shined as a team: compacted pressure on the opponent´s half with a very active first line. Tierney had an outstanding performance on defense and, actually, United barely progressed through his wing. However, the player that stood out the most was Gabriel Magalhães: aggressiveness and efficiency on his actions;unbeatable on the 50/50´s; and decisive on one of the few opportunities from the rival.
The Red Devils put Pogba and Fernandes in a diamond and suffered their lack of inspiration from their key players. The Portuguese tried to improve their passing attempts from backwards getting to the right wing, but that did not work. He did not manage to connect forward with his teammates either, and so he did not create any danger. This is not surprising at all if we take into account the French´s performance. We must point out Pogba´s lack of clearness but, moreover, his defensive disconnection: he committed a silly PK that gave Arsenal the lead when Arteta´s team was not dominating the ball possession.
Solskjær´s team took over the ball at the end of the game. However, despite Cavani and Van de Beek´s runs, the lack of creativeness stayed the same and kept them away from the draw. This way, doubts are back to Old Trafford and Arsenal change their negative direction in the Premier League.
