For the second year in a row, Arsenal and Manchester City will compete against eachother to lift the Premier League. Mikel Arteta has managed to put Arsenal back among the top clubs in England, and his team currently leads the league standings with 83 points. As for the Cityzens, they rank second with 82 points and having played one less match.
Pep Guardiola’s pupils had a rough start to the season, as they dropped a few more points than the Gunners, but due to the return of Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Haaland, the team managed by the Catalan manager went back to performing like a practically perfect machine that barely suffers from any setbacks.
That is how City work. The expectations for this team when it comes to performance and results has led them to win the last three Premier Leagues while always showing a very clear and compelling playstyle, a characteristic feature of Pep’s teams.
This season, Arsenal have been a more worthy opponent in their duel against a team considered by many to be the most consistent in the world.
Players like Declan Rice or David Raya have joined the team this year, allowing them to take an impressive leap and increase the depth of their roster, an essential requirement to sustain such a high scoring pace.
The Premier League could have a new champion in the midst of an era that has been completely dominated by Manchester City. However, Arsenal have not won the league since 2004. Wenger’s squad will always be remembered as the Invincibles, as they did not lose a single match over the course of their entire Premier League run.
Mikel Arteta will, once again, face off against his mentor to try and make history with an Arsenal side who are starting to excite their fans again and also feature a generation of young talents who are displaying an attractive style of football.
Some might argue that it has yet to translate to the Champions League, but the truth is that the Spanish manager has turned the Londoner club’s situation around.
We will see which of this two amazing squads takes the Premier League home. What is clear is that either of them would be a fair winner.
