In spite of the tough start with his new club, Kai Havertz is performing at a high level in the last few matches, allowing his team to pick up the three points consistently and lead the Premier League as of today.
His last big night took place last sunday at Emirates Stadium in the match against Roberto De Zerbi‘s Brighton, where a goal by Havertz secured the three points for the Londoner side. A critical victory that lifted the ‘Gunners’ to the first place on the table.
A rough start to the season:
The German midfielder has not had such influence on the squad over the course of the season, in fact, his first months as a part of the team located in north London were not easy at all.
The youngster arrived to the team as their star signing after his good spell at Chelsea. The consideration of being a great player was costly for Arsenal, to be exact, they paid a fee of 75 million pounds for his transfer.
A hefty amount to pay that most definitely took a toll on the player mentaly to start off the season. Kai Havertz could not figure it out in his first matches. He was not able to link up with his teammates and could not score a goal to save his life.
The player was not comfortable on the pitch and Mikel Arteta had to bench him for a while until he adapted to the playstyle and general atmosphere of his new team.
The German international received lots of criticism from Arsenal fans. However, the same people that criticized him back then, praise him today after finding out that it was only a matter of time before Kai Havertz showed his best version with his new team in the Premier League.
A key player in the last matches:
The influence the German has had on the game has been way more noticeable in the last few fixtures, as he has managed to score four goals in five matches.
Many of these goals have been critical to his team, like the one he scored against Brentford that certified their 1-0 victory or his goal in Luton Town’s ground that tied the game up before Declan Rice scored the winner (3-4).
At the moment, Arsenal is unconceivable without Kai Havertz, a midfielder that creates a promising chance every time he enters the box and who is lethal in the opposing side of the pitch. Without a shadow of a doubt, he fits the Premier League’s style perfectly and is establishing himself as one of its best players this year.
