To run Real Madrid’s bench is one of the most difficult tasks in this sport. Real Madrid have had 18 coaches since the start of the 21st century. Some of them have been very successful such as Zidane, who won three Champions League titles in a row, and others just did not meet the expectations. The huge demand on the top European competition tends to decide the future of all of them, along with the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is the final judge on the trial.

There are several rumors that put Real Madrid’s current coach Carlo Ancelotti in charge of the Brazilian national team next season. In fact, the Italian himself assured in a recent press conference that he even jokes about this with the Brazilian players that he has on his roster.
Rumors that have also been supported by Brazilian players such as Casemiro, Ederson, Rodrygo or Vinícius in some statements to the media. Furthermore, Brazilian Football Federation President Ednaldo Rodríguez rated him as the favorite coach to run the national team.

Ancelotti, whose contract expires in 2024, has always showed his intention to stay until the end of it. At the same time, he counts on a key fact at Real Madrid, the love of the crowd, thanks to his successes at the club and his personality, a true gentleman that makes the fans to fall in love with him.
However, due to the negative recent outcomes recently in the national tournaments, specially the tree defeats against FC Barcelona, his stay is getting more unlikely than expected at first.

And so a list of names as possible candidates to replace him has already been released on the media. Coaches from home such as Xabi Alonso and Raúl are strong options. Xabi has changed the face of Bayern Leverkusen since his arrival, a team that he joined in when it was on verge of relegation and that now is just three points away from European spots and qualified for the Europa League quarter finals.
On the other hand, Raúl González, Real Madrid Castilla’s current head coach, has his squad within the playoffs to promote to LaLiga Smartbank and is only four points away with a very attractive playing style. However, they both bring some doubts due to their lack of experience at a top European bench.

On the list of coaches who have already been at Real Madrid, of course, we have the possibility of Zinedine Zidane, and also José Mourinho. The frenchman has not been in charge of any club since he left Real Madrid a couple years ago and his not arrival to the national team opens the doors for him at the Bernabéu once again. In the case of the Portuguese, that is actually a very complicated option due to the fact that his stay at Rome is steady for now and he has his team in a good position on the table both nationally and in Europe.
In addition, there have been other names of two coaches that have just been sacked from their clubs. These are Julian Nagelsmann, who has just been fired from Bayern Munich, and Antonio Conte, one of the candidates that already arose when Zidane left Real Madrid and who has just been sacked from Tottenham.
It is clear that Real Madrid’s board of directors will have an intense summer if Ancelotti’s issue is not taken care of in the next coming months. A topic that will also be impacted by the titles Real Madrid lift at the end of the season, with the Champions League as a priority. However, right now, the future of Real Madrid’s bench is an unknown.
