Leicester City have, in the last few hours, made official the signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager, with a contract that runs until June 2027. According to sources close to the club, the Dutchman, after his good performances in charge of Manchester United as interim coach, caught the attention of the ‘Foxes’ board, who did not hesitate to establish negotiations with him to hire him as Steve Cooper‘s replacement.

The Dutchman, in his previous coaching experience, has shown that he has the ability to achieve these goals. Ruud van Nistelrooy can bring a tactical approach that would be a breath of fresh air to Leicester City, based on quick transitions, high pressing and an emphasis on finishing in front of goal, reflecting his lethal striker mentality. In addition, his experience in developing young players would be crucial for a club that has historically excelled at discovering and nurturing talent.
At PSV, he was instrumental in the explosion of players such as Cody Gakpo, who made the leap to Europe’s elite under his guidance. If he can replicate that success at Leicester, he would not only be preventing the Foxes’ relegation to the second division, but would also be building the foundations for a solid project for the future.

The 48-year-old manager has been given just enough time to prepare for his first few years at the club. The defeat to Brentford may not be much of an indication of what Van Nistelrooy’s Foxes will be like given the short time he has had to prepare, but it is the first of an era that has fans very excited.
