I personally thought that the culé fans would not believe certain transfer rumors (like the recent Mbappé leaks) at this point, but, as an old saying states “a leopard does not change its spots”.
FC Barcelona find themselves on a very complicated financial situation and has yet to be able register their new signings. But reports form L’ Equipe suggest that Barça would be interested in Mbappé and willing to exchange many players (Dembélé, Raphinha, Koundé or De Jong) for the French superstar.
The arrival of Kylian to Barça is not financially viable and the fans should know that and think consequently. This information coming from the Parisian newspaper only has one intention: raising the price of the player.
PSG think that Mbappé will not resign but also does not want to be sold this summer to cash in on his “loyalty bonus”. The French side firmly believe that the forward already has an agreement in place to arrive at Real Madrid as a free agent next season.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi knows that Mbappé’s contract renewal is not viable and PSG must recieve a huge fee for the striker if they want to sign world class players (like Kane or Bernardo Silva) to replace him and contend for the Champions League.
This has forced their front office to leak to the biggest media outlets in the country supposed offers (from Saudi Arabia to FC Barcelona or many English clubs) that the club would be receiving to sign Kylian, thus raising his price.
Florentino does not seem to fall for the trap and is using the same strategy. Pérez has been using the media to give the impression that he cannot sign Mbappé this transfer window and that he will most likely arrive for free at the start of next season. One side tries to raise the price while the other, that happens to currently control the situation, could end up paying a smaller fee and even have PSG be the one to have to make the call in order to get something in return for their star.
Now we all now about the impossible dreams that Mbappé creates: the culé fans with his rumored arrival to Can Barça; and Al-Khelaïfi with his contract renewal or a sale to any club other than Real Madrid.
‘Madridistas’ should be calm: slowly but surely, ‘The Turtle’, makes his way to Bernabéu.
