It took Real Sociedad three rounds of Liga F for them to get back to winning ways. A complicated start to the league with defeats against Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona, two opponents who made it difficult for them to take the three points. The main protagonist of the victory against Levante was Amaiur Sarriegi. The striker scored a brace to secure and certify the ‘txuri-urdin’ comeback.

This weekend, there was a very interesting duel between Real Sociedad and Levante. Both teams had failed to score in the first two games and were eager to open their account books. Both the Basque and Valencian sides have renewed their squads and, in addition, have had changes in their respective benches.
Real Sociedad’s current coach, José Luis Sánchez Vera, arrived from Levante in search of a new challenge. The coach seems to have got off to a good start, with players such as Nerea Eizaguirre and Amaiur Sarriegi returning to their best form.

The games against Sevilla and Barça were proof that something big was to come, but the team needed time to adapt, and so the victories would come.
The case of Amaiur Sarriegi has been worked on very calmly. The attacker started the season as a substitute against Sevilla, but played some very good minutes. Against Barça she was a starter and, on the pitch, she was one of the best players. Against Levante, she was in her best form and, with a brace, showed that she is going to be important for Real Sociedad.

The match against Levante didn’t start as a bed of roses, as the ‘granotas’ started the match winning with a penalty goal by Érika after three minutes. Real Sociedad wouldn’t level the match until the last half hour, where everything could have gone either way.
Amaiur Sarriegi popped up at the most opportune moment to equalise with a superb goal. A very precise long pass from Manuela Vargas and a spectacular control by the striker to dribble past the goalkeeper and finish for her own pleasure. This was Amaiur’s first goal of the season.

The striker wasn’t satisfied and wanted the victory for her team. The second goal was another three-touch finish after a pass from Cahynová and, once again, a spectacular finish from a real ‘killer’.
Amaiur Sarriegi started this season with a lot of enthusiasm and a desire to find herself again. Last season she had hip problems that prevented her from playing and showing her best side. The striker played a total of 23 games, scoring only two goals. The numbers of the 2020/2021 season seemed to be left behind, where she scored 17 goals in league competition.
Now it is time for Amaiur to gain confidence and return to her old self. Real Sociedad need a striker like her to get good results. Who knows if in the future the doors of the national team could open for her again as they did a few years ago. All this would be great news for Spanish football.
