This Friday June 14th sees the start of the opening match of the European Championship, which Spain will be looking forward to. Ahead of them will be the possibility of becoming the most successful team in the competition, surpassing Germany.
Spain, led by Luis de la Fuente, announced after the match against Andorra, that the players left out will be Pau Cubarsí, Aleix García and Marcos Llorente, leaving the list of 26 players who will seek to win the title in Germany.

The group of players selected by the coach from La Rioja forms a fairly complete squad, which stands out more for being a team than for having a star player. Despite the presence of Rodri, who I consider the best ‘5’ in the world, he isn’t a player who is going to make a difference when it comes to settling a match.
Spain’s final list mixes more experienced and regular players with many others who will be playing in their first European Championship. In goal, Unai Simón seems immovable for Luis de la Fuente, now even more so after winning the Zamora award.
For the full-backs, where Carvajal and Grimaldo will likely be the starters, and despite already having a lot of experience in football, it will also be their first European Championship. In the centre of defense, Le Normand is a permanent fixture for the coach and his partner seems likely to be Nacho, although it wouldn’t be surprising if Laporte came in.
Moving on to the midfield of Spain, Rodri is indisputable in the pivot. Then, as his two companions, we can find several names such as Mikel Merino, who is a very complete player who never disappoints; Fabián, who can help a lot in the ball delivery and then going forward; or Pedri, who seems to be returning to his best level after a season weighed down by injuries.
From my point of view, I believe that the last two will play the most, as with Rodri behind them, Spain can afford to have two more creative players.
Up front, the attacking trio looks set to be unchanged. On the flanks, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, and up-front Morata, the captain. Two very young players who will be looking to shine at this European Championship with their overflow and their playfulness. Morata, for his part, will try to lead Spain by providing goals and experience to the team.
What is clear is that this team is going to fight every game and we will see if Spain are finally able to bring the title home, as they came from leaving a very good image in the last edition.
